Privacy policy

CallItPoll ("we," "us") runs callitpoll.com, a public site for voting on global events and sports fixtures. This page explains what information we collect, what we don't, and how third-party advertising works on the site.
Information we collect directly
- Your IP address: used to enforce one vote per poll, show an approximate country in results, count daily visits, limit abuse (rate limits and the bot check below) and list your own picks on My picks. It is hashed (HMAC-SHA256, with a secret salt) before storage; we never store your IP address in plain text, and because the hash uses a secret key that is never published, it can't be turned back into an IP address without that key.
- Approximate country: derived from your IP address (or your network's country signal, if you arrive via a reverse proxy that provides one) at the moment you vote. Shown only as part of aggregated per-country results; we never publish it alongside anything that identifies you.
- Your vote choice and poll content you submit: if you vote, we record which option you picked. If you create a poll, we store the title, options, and any description or link you provide. Don't include anyone else's personal information in a poll you create.
We do not use accounts, passwords, names, or email addresses anywhere on the site, and we do not set any cookies of our own.
Bot protection
To keep automated scripts from stuffing votes or posting spam polls, we may ask you to pass a quick check from Cloudflare Turnstile before you vote or create a poll. Turnstile looks at technical signals from your browser to tell people from bots; it does not show ads or track you across sites. See Cloudflare's Turnstile privacy addendum. Once you pass, your browser keeps a short-lived pass in local storage (not a cookie) for up to 12 hours so you are not asked again on every vote. The pass only works from the network you earned it on and contains nothing about you.
Advertising and cookies
We show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet, and to measure ad performance. We do not control these cookies and do not receive the information they collect.

If you're visiting from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, a consent banner lets you choose whether to allow personalized advertising before any ad-related cookies are set.
How long we keep information
Hashed IP records are kept as long as needed to enforce the one-vote-per-poll rule for that poll. Poll titles, options, and vote tallies are kept indefinitely as the public content of the service, since they're the aggregated results the site exists to show; they are not personal information once separated from any hash. Daily visit records (a hashed IP and a date, used only to count each network once a day) are deleted after 3 days.
Your choices
Because we don't use accounts, we generally cannot look up "your" data on request: we have no way to connect a hashed record back to a specific visitor. If you created a poll and want it removed, or have another privacy request, contact us using the details below and we'll do what we reasonably can.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable law (for example, the GDPR in the EU/UK or state privacy laws in the US) to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, or to object to certain processing. Contact us to make a request.
Children's privacy
CallItPoll is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the date at the top reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the update.
